I think I was wrong and a first round loser that goes all the way will reach the finals with an even better 9-1 record.

64 players - player loses (0-1)

32 rd-of-64 losers - play down to 16 (1-1)

16 rd-of-32 losers feed in (32 total) - play down to 16 (2-1)

Play down to 8 (3-1)

8 rd-of-16 losers feed in (16 total) - play down to 8 (4-1)

Play down to 4 (5-1)

4 rd-of-8 losers feed in (8 total) - play down to 4 (6-1)

Play down to 2 (7-1)

2 rd-of-4 losers feed in (4 total) - play down to 2 (8-1)

Play down to 1 (9-1) - Finalist.
