Its a start

With ELOs, your earlier performances eventually disappear and no longer have an effect on one's rating. So when Donk #3 improves to becomes WC #5, earlier losses essentially disappear, appropriately. However, early poor W / L records never stop affecting the stat. Think of MCG as an example. Ignoring recent results, if you did an ELO and a W / L record over his entire career, it would paint two very different pictures since he has had improved so rapidly. This works in the opposite direction too for players who let their skills decline.
Again, I don't object to keeping W / L records, but they have limited value. I would prefer to concentrate on ELOs.
