Gregg: Interesting comparison of Bridge and Backgammon. Two brief thoughts. BECAUSE we play backgammon for money, another points system/rating system isn't as needed as the built-in incentive is already there.

Ray: I could not disagree more. The money is only an incentive for those that are winning some of it. It's a detraction for the others. Also if playing for money is so attractive, then why is attendance flagging and why are there innumerable posts suggesting ways to alleviate that problem?
