I think paying now is right here.

Lets say we pay later, and white is forced off the 9 point and we hit the blot on the 9 and lift the blot left in the home board. This seems like a very good sequence. However, there are 12 shots off the roof at the 2 outfield blots we just left. Then assuming white misses and even worse - dances, it will be very unlikely to get both checkers home on the next shake and we are probably leaving another 8 shots from the roof. So we're moving towards the 25 immediate shots by paying now, and this was from a good sequence. Meanwhile, from the bad sequences, we may leave the same shot later anyway, and white may have covered the acepoint, etc.
