A fair spot for the undefeated player

Cool... That is what Art maintained at the outset and what people voted in favor of.
I knew he was one smart guy!
I was able to win the single match as the undefeated player the first time the situation came up. We may expect to hear some whining the first time the undefeated player gets beat in that situation! However, that player should be reminded that he did not have to fight through the losers bracket to cash, because he was guaranteed at least second place money.
Poor George Matthews played me in the undefeated bracket final. He led me 5-0/11 and 10*-8/11, but I eventually came back and won. Then he lost his next two matches also, either of which would have allowed him to cash in the event if he won. So, it is still a BIG relief to become the undefeated finalist.
Belated congratulations, and my thanks, to Art Benjamin who is undoubtedly the best mathematician who occaisionally plays backgammon today.
Still in the top 5 of the ABT while attending no more than ONE tournament a year for the last 10 years... He is a hell of a player too!
