lol Neil ;-). I would bet it would be near zero as well. If I understand most of the arguments now, they revolve around rating player skill (through some mechanism like ELO or Error Rates) but not necessarily for the ABT - but to decide the Giants list.
So maybe the solution is simpler. Maybe backgammon no longer needs the Giants list. The good players know who they are, have proven track records. And those players get a lot of name recognition without the list. And there are people not on the list who have recognition in other ways.
I'm going to leave people with this note (Courtesy of Jason Lee's site). The future of Backgammon and the ABT doesn't rest with the Giants list. The future of this game rests with people like Jamie (pictured) at this link: http://vegasbg.net/ . How do you change the ABT (and Backgammon in general), to woo Jamie's segment of the population.
