I may have misinterpreted Ray's post:

"Maybe I misunderstood your email I will have to reread it. Regardless our intent is not to demean anyone in US Backgammon. It is just a resource to consult at a time when voting for the best players in the world is fast coming upon us. Everyone would like to make objective and intelligent votes, I am sure. "

If so, I'm sorry about that. I assumed the demeaning would be the use of a rating system (or Win/Loss scorecard) to rank US players. And that the vote being discussed was the Giants list.
