I totally agree. When I posted the pic on Jason Lee's site - the younger generation is where the ABT should target. In school the game of backgammon (imho) has a lot of possibilities for teaching basic math and probability and kids could have fun doing it.
Perosnally I think its win, win. Students learn, and maybe they become interested in the game and then show up at ABT events or local clubs. One could also consider having BG players help set up local backgammon Clubs at the schools. There's always a chess club, why not Backgammon!
I think local clubs should be open to the idea of kids. I'm unsure if this would be acceptable in every club - I mean if your club meets at a table in a bar at 10pm it might not be.
I know some ABT events have events for younger people. I'm not sure if thats done at all of them or not. If the ABT has limited events for children (I can't say since I don't know) - maybe the idea should be expanded.
