Mochy took me into a high school in Tokyo one time to play with their backgammon club. They probably had fifteen kids (all boys). We all paired off and played a bunch of 3 point matches. It was good fun, and the kids were excited to have an American guest.

Afterward, I asked Mochy how often the club meets. The answer: every day. He visits them about once a month.

A couple of years ago I got an email from a math teacher at a junior high in North Las Vegas... he wanted some information about how to get a backgammon club started. I responded enthusiastically, with some ideas on raising some money, and then offered to come out to his school any time he wanted to play BG with his kids and work in some math. Never heard back from the guy.
