OK, thank you for that. I had thought about setting up a position that leaded to the start position, but I didn't know about the initial roll box. Did you mean "so that no doubles are rolled on the first shake" ?

If I understand variance reduction correctly, it manipulates the game value so that the big cubes don't account for too much in the result. That would indeed mean that getting the actual result distribution would require to turn off variance reduction. Does that mean that an accurate rollout would require ages to complete ?
