Prime vs. slime

So, I panicked here. After a long look, I concluded that I would be getting the cube next turn, so I should pretend it was already DMP. I underestimated the strength of my position, and decided that I had to try to close the five point with 10/6 8/5. This turns out to be the worst way to try for the five point.
The safe 8/4 6/3 is best, burying two checkers but keeping all the blocking points, and very importantly leaving no blots. This wasn't really on my radar; my alternative play was 10/3, and this was also the consensus play in the discussion afterward. Surprisingly, 10/3 is actually worse than the play I made! It exposes a second blot and unblocks White's 9's without trying for the five point.
One tactical issue is that having a spare on the six point is less useful than usual, because I already have a compelling use for an ace on the other side of the board.
In the actual game, my opponent didn't redouble, rolled a 4, and gammoned me for the match on a 2 cube. It turns out I was right that White should double after any of my plays; scant consolation.
The score is: hiro 2, pottle 2 (match to 5 points)
