I am pretty shocked at the size of the difference too. However, I think what it comes down to is that this game is likely to play out positionally as there is little chance of blitzing and escaping against the 5 point anchor. You'll probably get hit at some point while attacking anyway, or fail to extract the back checkers and be at a positional disadvantage. So make the 3 point and what's the game plan? You've got a racing lead, but do you get to race, and do you keep the lead? Make the bar and it is clear how you go about bringing the game home (though probably from a much closer racing position after getting hit, but one in which you are still ahead). And white may miss.
