Advanced Backgammon part 24B ROLLOUT

Position 234:
As Robertie notes, playing 7/2 preserves a playable 4. That pays off in the variation where White preserves his board (e.g. with 66, 61, etc.), and then Blue rolls one of his few 4s (in this case, 41 or 64).
7/3 6/5 is more flexible in most other variations, so it gets the nod.

Again, 6/3 is way too inflexible to be right. The alternative that Robertie looks at is 7/6 7/5, preparing to clear. This "big mistake" is better than Robertie's play but best is just 7/4 which maintains both flex and playable numbers.

Holding the prime, both preserving the race lead and trying to get White to crack, is much better than anything else. I'm not sure why 4/1 is better than 5/2 with the last one, but it doesn't make a huge difference.
