That seems to be a bias in favor of XG.
Maybe, though I am not sure about that. A better way of analysis might be the following: Take a game of Bot A vs. Bot B and do the kind of analysis that Xavier did, but only for the plays on Bot B's side and based on rollouts with bot A (or vice versa). You will actually get an unbiased estimate of the relative cumulative error. This thesis describes why it works even if Bot A is a nearly brainless (poker-)bot.
Suppose that Snowie favors play A and XG favors play B. The reason may be that after play A that XG does not play the position correctly.
Yes. And if the play happened on Snowie's side, Snowie gets the opportunity to prove that it can play the position after play A better than XG.
