Let's keep a little perspective about the bots. If two plays turn out to be within .020 of each other, I believe you can roll it out for the rest of your life and still never be quite sure which play is best, but I also believe that it's a waste of time, after a certain point, trying to find out. No matter how good you are, you have bigger fish (errors) to fry to sharpen your skills.
For 99 percent of us, being able to use a bot quickly and easily to find major errors, or to find out which play or two are close and at the top, is a WONDERFUL thing and services our needs well.
I do not want to know how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, I want to know where the pin is.
So while you run all kinds of tests and studies to see which bot can count the angels, in the meantime, save yourself a few hours of rollouts and be assured you are getting very good information most of the time and very quickly with extremegammon. And be assured that you have a reasonable tool to settle some arguments and bets with a reasonable degree of accuracy in a relatively fast amount of time. Maybe in a year or two you will throw it away when something better comes along or GNU is improved to speed up, and by then you've more than gotten your $50 worth out of the investment.
