I had a backgame with all 15 checkers back on my opponent's 2, 3, and 4, points, and I had a double shot. I played it against Snowie and was shocked to see how Snowie played the other side, but I didn't win very much. I then had snowie play my side and I played the other side, and again, I was shocked to see how Snowie played it. But again, I didn't win very much.

Several experts told me that Snowie just doesn't understand these positions, but from either side, it made plays I never would have made but kept beating me. I concluded that it must know something I didn't know.

Perry Gartner told me to ignore those people who keep criticizing the bots...trust them because even though they are not perfect, even in those crazy situations, they are usually better than most humans.

So I began playing more like Snowie played, and I started winning more. Now, when I am in back games, I make plays I had not made before, and I am rated higher by the bots, and I am winning more.

So you say you were hoping the bots could teach you how to play back games? They can. Maybe not perfectly, but pretty damn well.
