Obviously I can't comment on the player's playing style at the table, so with what you gave me to go on, A7X flop, all spades, you hold 77, 2nd UTG raised pre, you have to check. A continuation bet will come if the person holds AX or if the person holds XX where one of them = spade, or even if they're simply making a continuation bet on absolutely nothing, which they should do on that sort of flop. After the continuation bet you obviously push, but you should get that bet out of them. When you push into the flop you not only lose their continuation bet but the only time you'll ever get a call is when they already have the spades, they flopped a set of aces, or they have AX where X = high spade. (in the last scenario they're roughly 30% to win). You don't ever really want called in these situations, if you're going to take what you can get while the getting is good, you have to, in general, allow the continuation bet and then snatch the pot. This may also talk them into calling with AX and no spades, since there's more money in the pot now they may think you're moving on a spade draw or weaker ace.
