After sitting through Mike Corbett's lecture on blots, coming out has more appeal to me than it might have in the past. There's 9 shots of which 44 wins anyway. And on all of them, there's a direct shot's worth of returns. But those returns are dangerous in their own right since white will have blots everywhere and only a 3 point board. So the question is what is to be lost (or gained) by waiting? A few numbers make another point in blue's home board, but even more numbers put blots in there which will make leaving next time more attractive. And by staying back, white gets a shot on 66. On balance, while white will likely have to go over the next turn or two, it looks likely that when doing so he will have a stronger home board and shooting at a blot in blue's board if hit. So I think pay later wins here.
