Looks like the timing is close and white's prime is going to make it difficult to win going forward. Hitting could work, but could also be a losing proposition as it may help white's timing, particularly killing large doubles, and if blue is hit back it would not be good to enter on the 24 point. All things equal, the blotty play is likely to lose more gammons. Against a weak player I hit, as I think it complicates things more, but against someone that knows what they're doing, I make the quiet 16/12(2) play and let white play.
