No particular position, just a general discussion on how Bots handle backgames.

I stand by the original implication I made: Gnubg does not play backgames that well, it does too many extremely strange things when there are many men back, too often. This drawback has been discussed a lot in various forums. Snowie does better and I agree with Phil that one can learn a thing or two from watching Snowie play a typical backgame position. Both Bots are better than me in a typical backgame position, I'm sure.

Gnubg (in my judgement) seems to do okay in more straightforward backgame positions, but I think the general feeling amongst players is that Snowie is still the better of the two. Where BGBlitz fits into the backgame debate I don't know, perhaps Frank can enlighten us, if he reads this.
