Well noting that white will have a 27 pip lead after the play and has a strong cube coming, we certainly don't want to have an accident. So I play safe and send the blot to the roof to minimize an accident from big doubles (thus rejecting 22/7 12/7 which I suspect is a close choice). So where's the last 5? 17/12 13/8 or 12/7? 12/7 gives the least outfield coverage so that's out. I have a slight preference to 17/12 which minimizes the blot count and makes some of the doubles play a bit better and gets all the checkers in range of home where they are more likely to land on either the 7 or 5 points instead of stacked on the 8 point. It does leave 2 outer board points to clear which is a liability, but noting that both 8's and 9's only leave 4 shots each in this position, the risk is somewhat diminished.

7/1(2) 22/12
