I didn't look :-) I simply know that stealing a template that works is easier than creating something new.

I was thinking more along the lines of borrowing the scheduling, qualification, travel/host city determination, etc., guidelines that can become so contentious.

A Swiss sounds good as you don't run into the problem of meaningless matches. However, I imagine they are using a Swiss because each game takes so long in chess. You might find that a RR is OK for BG given the time constraints.
