Again, the logic that because matches are not timing out, the TC must be sufficient does not hold water.

Ah, but that's not quite what I'm saying. I'm saying that very few matches are timing out, and those that aren't timing out but are under time pressure might not be properly managing their time.

I'll freely admit that these observations are based on my own matches, and just a few that I see/hear about.

I just happen to think that 2/12 is a perfectly good time control... I have never really felt rushed at all, and have at times deliberately taken much more time than I might otherwise simply because I know I have time to burn, and it seemed like a good idea to do some more calculations.

I also don't really object to 2.5/12, if that's going to be the standard. Like you pointed out, it doesn't really add that much time.

I only object to making it 2.5 now, and changing to 2 later.
