. 24/18 and 6/5. Bringing this checker to safety is the most important goal at this stage and the roll offers just such an opportunity on this and subsequent sequences. You could escape to safety on the next roll or jump into the outfield, get a decent number of returns, get additional chances to escape, have the opponent break his 8 by hitting and leave a number of awkward blots this way,and dup 3's and 5-1 that make the 5 point. It also permits your other checkers to remain more flexible for future rolls.
Hitting on the 2 doesn't pick-up on gammons at dmp, makes for a big negative swing in game equity when hit back, leaves 20 good numbers for the opponent as coming in on the 4 takes this blot to good spot, and strips the opponent's 8. Now most of white's 6's play from the stripped mid or 8, particularly bad when the blot hit on his 2 has entered on his 4.
Hitting on the 2 does take advantage of relative board strength but the anchor on the 21 diminishes this advantage.
Making the bar looks like a big error as you lose outfield control leaving a blot on the mid, and cuts communications with your blot on the 24.
I look forward to the rollout.
