There are a number of Indian casinos in northern New York State:

If you like the great outdoors, aside from the Thousand Islands area being pretty awesome, you might want to spend some time in the Adirondacks. I'm sure you can sleep cheap, especially if you bring a tent.

And of course, you're passing right by the Niagara Falls area if you've never been there.

You like baseball? Hit Cooperstown on the way back. And if you do that, you can piggyback that with Howe Caverns if you're into killing a few hours taking a touristy cave tour.
