Poker is booming more than BG because poker is an event that has some television appeal. Hole card cams allow the viewer to feel like part of the action, and most of the "boring" hands are edited out.

BG on TV is ... well... let's just put it bluntly... shit.

Why? Because who wants to watch two guys roll dice, and then sit and think about a move for 5 minutes? It's also harder to edit. Imagine watching a BG event on TV, and they show the opening roll, then cut to a bearoff position. Well just WTF happened in between??!!?? The only chance BG has to have TV appeal is speed. If you want to compare BG to something, stop comparing it to poker, and compare it to chess. And guess what? Chess uses clocks... in fact, one of the largest growing events in chess is speed chess. Blitz games with 5 min per side, bullet games with ONE minute per side.

If a game as cerebral as chess can be played with one minute per side, no reserve time, then surely BG can also.
