I see the 17pt as an important asset. We're very unlikely to bring this position home by playing "safe," so our racing lead is something of an illusion. When we get hit, I think we'll want that point. It also serves as a nice restraint against White's midpoint checkers. I'm inclined to take the initiative rather than give Stick a chance to improve, so I'm blasting away with 8/4* 8/3*. This leaves about the same amount of shots as 13/4*, but makes it much harder for Stick to anchor. If we can come away with either the 3 or 4pt, we'll have equalized board strength and helped our cause quite a lot. Getting hit now isn't a catastrophe since White has few spares up front.
