Contador is officially the team captain and rides with the lowest number on his back (21). However, Armstrong who - when in his prime - used to rule supremely like a "dictator" on his team, now believes that it's only natural for a team "to have multiple captains". Armstrong only rides for himself and therefore there is indeed a conflict of interest within the Astana team.
In fact, I find it more than likely that we'll see 3 Astana riders on the podium in Paris. As I've already stated, Contador is my overwhelming favourite but Armstrong can never be counted out, even if he's turned 37.
Yesterday the TV commentators said that Armstrong looked like a fox that had just been handed the keys to a big chicken slaughterhouse. :-) I tend to agree, he does ooze confidence.
