Yeah--in my experience, it's almost always right to break the board from the back unless the alternative isn't too harmful. In order for me not to break from the back, I need to feel very strongly that (1) the alternative is about the same positionally and in terms of board strength and race and whatever else may matter, and (2) there are relatively substantial gains to be had by making the non-standard play.
