Has anyone actually stated that, apart from Ray in what I thought was a somewhat jocular posting?

FWIW I would guess that 1-200, Europe is a good deal stronger than the US. But 1-20 I bet it's a tossup.

Americans may have a somewhat skewed view of European backgammon strength from the World Championships, which features many wealthy European players of questionable strength in addition to a group of good players. Most of the Americans who make the trip are pretty good.
