Good luck in Europe

David: Please help me by explaining what you can do that Europeans can not do so well.

We can not take Rays extremely generic and in reality useless advice too seriously.

We can understand the underlying point that Ray is making, which indeed is that the Europeans are not the superstrong players that many US players consider them to be, they are in fact on a par with US players, and not to fear them just because they may have a bigger reputation.

And, if you are Ray, then you can apply a whole set of different pressures on an opponent OTB.

And, this all comes from a European (me).

David, nothing personal, but you strike me as the kind of person that just takes extreme exception to your perceived slights, without looking any deeper into it. Did Ray mean to imply that europeans are weak?

One last point, but perhaps not trivial. Do you play live, David? Or just online? There is a significant difference between sitting in front of your computer playing falafel or mochy, or whoever else, or any of the other massive non-US players, and sitting across the board from them looking at them, and knowing that they are amongst the best in the world. There is without a doubt a psychological aspect to this game. Ray merely knows how to exploit that better than many others.

My own personal experience from this, is that I recall my first time playing Neil Kazaross live, and I can tell you, its tougher than playing someone who claims to be 'neilkaz' online. I am since much less fearful, but no less respectful.
