Q's for Danish Players (way too long)

Why is Denmark so big in bg? Letīs face it...
1. Denmark is a small country with short distances between cities (if you take out Groenland). Itīs easy to have clubs and run inter-club competitions.
2. A very well organized federation was established some decades ago, backed by a beer brand, pushing the game heavily at a very affordable price.
3. Denmark is not California. The majority of the year, your choices are being indoors, or having fun with polar bears and penguins. Perfect for backgammon.
All in all, and my strange humor being put aside, the success of bg in Denmark is mainly due to good federatrion work, promoting it to young students, in cafes and bars. Thatīs why not only Denmark is one of the strongest nations, but also one of the youngest. Youīll have a hard time finding Danish bg players aged 50 and aboce, as opposed to the USA where youīll have a hard time finding players aged less than 30.
Unfortunately, also in Denmark bg is losing players to poker.
