In Response To: eXtreme Gammon cube rollouts (Robert-Jan Veldhuizen (Zorba))

Hello, thanks for the questions.

When running a cube decision Rollout, XG is running in parallel 2 lines: one for the no Double and one for Double/Take. Cube decisions are made base on the cube position in each line. Move decision are made base on the cube position in the “No double” line. The luck calculation (for the Variance reduction) is made using the cube position in each line.

It actually calculate the winning percentage in both lines. But yes it display only one and that’s the one from the No double line.

There is a Rollout option called “Roll for take” that actually force move decision to be made using the cube in the “Double/take” line.

The case where it makes a difference are seldom as often there will be a double in “No Double” line.

I think I will change that behavior and work on make the lines completely separate (and it will allow to run a 2 moves checker play rollout in parallel, for more moves in parallel I will have to redesign some core function so it will take quite a while). I will also try to find space to display the “double/take” winning percentage

I’ll post after that an example where the evaluation is off because of that (It also be a test of the HTML export I work on this weekend)
