White's timing isn't very good, and Blue has a great chance to make him crunch. I think the way to do that is not to hit on the 23pt, but to pick up the two outfield blots. With two on the bar, Blue has the time to extend his prime so that when White enters he'll be forced to play his numbers in his board. Blue's straggler is in very little danger of getting trapped, and White's checker on the 2pt is much deeper than he'd like without the ammunition to make his 4pt.
