I agree with your fine analysis which mirrors mine. By trying to hit three checkers we might be a bit more likely to form a 5 or 6 prime, but they also may dance long enough that White's crash isn't catastophic. If we only hit 1, perhaps White enters and hops out and eventually wins a battle for our 7 pt.

The blot on White's 2 pt is placed vary poorly and I plan to leave it there if I can.
