Definitely prefer progressive conso to the non-progressive way MC used to be run. In the past, those who lost in either the round of 256 or 128 of the main on Monday played in the 1st conso on Wednesday (Tuesday was a day off). Losers in the 64/32 round of the main and those who lost in the 1st conso played in the 2nd conso on Thursday. Losers in the round of 16/8 of the main don't get to play in either conso -- they just go to the last chance which is also non-progressive.

So the more victories you had before losing, the lower your chance of winning either of the consos. If you got to the round of 64 or 32 in the main before losing, you missed out on the 1st conso. If it was the round of 16 or 8, you missed out on both consos.
