You could always do the "Koca-Cabana" and boycott. Last time I was there, I didn't figure out the percentages but I did manage to see that you start out with 100% of your money...
get stuck a fee changing it... from what you say 12.5%? So now you are down to 87.5% Then you go home and they get you for another 12.5% so now you are down to like 78% and you didn't even play in a tournament or have lunch at the red top cafe yet. Who in the HELL would go to a tournament in Europe but not the USA......... When after the tournament, hotel, bank, and currency exchange get to you your return is at best 50%?????????????? Amazing. I don't miss that at all, even though I liked the MC and Cannes tournaments.
The best thing to do is to talk to Ed O. or possibly Bob Koca about it. Ed taught me that you should just maximize your daily withdrawl limit on your bank debit card and withdraw money daily while you are there... Then the rake is only about 5%.
Maybe Koca would give you a better deal, he always wants to make a buck and he has some euros on hand for sure!
Also people over there will buy dollars from you too... Mario Sequira asked me to sell him some last time I was there. Ask around, but mainly talk to Ed O'Laughlin for the best ways to do things.
