I don't know if anyone can figure out the airlines -- I certainly can't. It would seem to the logical that, if seats are available, the airlines would be reducing fares very near a flight date to try to ensure filling the seats. Most cruise lines, as examples, do this. However, if you try to buy a ticket less than 14 days in advance, it seems the price is always 3x or 4x what it would have been a couple of weeks prior. Amazes me. So, despite that momentary thought of maybe playing this weekend, I'm not paying a grand to fly from Houston to Minneapolis. I could have gone to Monte Carlo for less.
