I'm with Howard.

I think it might be said that player A did relatively as well against his opponent, as player C did against his opponent. If nothing is known about the relative quality of the opponents, then it's a rather useless piece of information.

Even if both opponents in your example are known to play on a similar level, the results may tell the observer more about the variance of error rates than about the relative strengths of players A and C.
