This seems like a really interesting question to me. When they show poker on tv, the guy that wins the bluff appears to be a genius even if the bluff would seem to have been a real longshot by the audience and experts. When the bluff fails the bluffer looks like a total douche. And the expert commentators always appear to be experts but they were not in the action.
I watched Ray run a bluff against a name player in the final of the Grand Crystal Beaver tournament in 2008. The play was covered in Chicago Point. I was watching two feet away from the action and thinking: how can Ray possibly double this? I know this isn't a double and I just washed out in the intermediate tournament. This is clearly no double-take. And the other guy dropped it. And I thought to myself, jeez what an appalling error from a top player...well, that must have been why Ray doubled...
