In Response To: What did Stick do to deserve THIS? (Chuck Bower)

Suppose there is a 96 player single elimination tournament. Which of the following formats gives the best player in the tourney the greater chance to win the tournament?

Option A: 64 players get a round 1 bye and immediately start the round 2 match.

OR

Option B: There are 3 groups of 32. Each plays down to a champ. Then of those 3 one gets a bye to the finals.
