I maybe should have dropped this cube...I didn't because I evaluated my chances much better than this (in the ~35% range). Had I thought I was only 28% I would have passed.
Here was the position before I got hit:
The score (after 0 games) is: White 5, Blue 7 (match to 11 points)
Move number 4: Blue on roll, cube decision?
White 138
Blue 26 Position ID: 2G4HCDC2BwAAAA Match ID: QQlgAVAAOAAA
I lost a similar position to Gary in the consolation:
The score (after 0 games) is: White 3, Blue 5 (match to 9 points)
Move number 4: Blue on roll, cube decision?
White 121
Blue 19 Position ID: m+0ACjC+AwAAAA Match ID: QQkgATAAKAAA
The position where he redoubled me, this time I really couldn't drop:
The score (after 0 games) is: White 3, Blue 5 (match to 9 points)
Move number 4: White on roll, cube decision?
White 134
Blue 34 Position ID: PQAAoM12ACAxAA Match ID: AQEgATAAKAAA
• White doubles
Alert: wrong double ( -0.2212)!
Cube decision 2-ply cubeless equity -0.2214 (Money: -0.1941) 0.4770 0.0000 0.0000 - 0.5230 0.1338 0.0144 Cubeful equities: 1. No double +0.0321 2. Double, pass +1.0000 +0.9679 3. Double, take -0.1890 -0.2212 Proper cube action: No redouble, take (18.6%) So twice this tournament I've been bearing off against an ace point game at 4-away 6-away and both times I've lost on a 4 cube. Harvey rolled a 21 to pick up all three checkers. Gary did not pick up the second checker.
