I much prefer the 21 format, and don't find it sloppy at all. It's clear and understandable at a glance--to veteran or newcomer alike--making it quick and easy to find what you need without having to decipher anything. Although it requires a few more characters (which isn't important since there is ample screen space), it is both more elegant and more concise in that it describes simply and clearly the position at hand. Brevity doesn't always equate to simplicity or clarity.
