Matt, you and I recently played two matches on Extreme, and when I exported the files to GNU and evaluated them, there didn't seem to be any correlation between ER and ELO

I would find this extremely surprising.

...one game you had a higher ELO than I, but my ER for the same game was higher than yours, for example.

I assume you mean lower.

Part of the difference was the way GNU 2 ply evaluated your early cube compared to Extreme (GNU made it a blunder and EX was a small error); but I am sure there are other reasons.

I think this is probably a major part of the difference. The rest of it may just be due to how the ER vs. ELO is calculated (eXtreme doesn't give you a better ER for moves with the same equity, etc.). You will get a further differing result if you put it in Snowie.

When I talk about ELO being better than ER, I am talking about actual ELO, not what eXtreme reports as "ELO". eXtreme's reporting of "ELO" is basically another way of reporting ER.
