What I meant is this: Assume again shark against equal fish. The shark's winning percentage in round i is p_i. Assume longer matches increase the shark's winning percentage and matchlength increases with the round number, i.e. p_i < p_j if i < j. Then with format A, the shark's chance of winning the tournament is wA=2/3*p1*p2*p3*p4*p5*p6*p7+1/3*p2*p3*p4*p5*p6*p7. With format B, it is wB=2/3*p1*p2*p3*p4*p5*p6*p7+1/3*p1*p2*p3*p4*p5*p7.

Then wA-wB=1/3*p2*p3*p4*p5*p7*(p6-p1) > 0. Option A is better for the shark.

Again, I am far from sure that this conclusion from the shark against equal fish case can be generalized for more practical cases.
