How to improve your game

Rich, we are in complete agreement on all you write.
Long rollouts are pretty much a waste of time since you don't remember the exact position anyway. If things are TCTC then it's not a big deal if you make the "inferior" play.
I think you all came up with good points on how to improve.
Personally, I just like to play a lot, analyse everything and quickly go over my errors. If I understand why my play gets dinged, then I don't bother with a rollout. If I disagree with gnu, then I'll do a short rollout to see if things change. I only do long rollouts on positions that I want to remember as references.
Still I am a bit puzzled about what aspects of the game to study. Should one go for the potentially big blunders or the frequently occuring positions where one only makes small error?
I kinda buy the idea of looking at one's own mistakes and grouping these.
