Correct. But you don't even need to go through this hypothetical situation and the math. The very definition of an extra makes this fact a given. An extra is a 1 game prop on the correctness of the Take/Drop decision. No more, no less.
If a position is a correct pass, you drop and pay a point because you would have to pay more than a point on average by taking, so dropping is less costly. If it is a correct take, then you expect to lose less than a point on average by taking and so you take because it is cheaper than paying a point to walk away.
If the take/pass decision is exactly on the borderline, the cost either way is exactly 1 point. So by giving an extra and paying the taker 1 point, it is exactly a wash if the decision is exactly on the borderline (you've paid them 1 point and they expect to lose 1 point). The taker then clearly makes a profit if the take is correct, and they clearly incur a loss if the take is incorrect. There's no mystery here - this is exactly how it must be, and why extras are a fair method for dealing with renegades (as opposed to Chouettes that require the renegade to beaver in order to take alone).
