A) Superstitious/telekinetic (not QUITE the same thing, but probably closely related) individuals perceive a loss of control.

That needn't be the case. My mastery over the dice at DailyGammon is coming along nicely. Maybe it's my affinity with computers but I find it easier than with real dice. :-)

B) For some (many?) there is a soothing or tension-releasing affect from shaking and tossing.

That's very true but what's that got to do with backgammon? :-))
