Of course often you don't have much choice on WHERE your checkers come from as the TO point is the issue. But here, since either acepoint or deucepoint TO points seem about equal I can put some weight on the FROM/WHERE points.

Does that make more sense?

Yeah, it does... I think ultimately what will make 7/2* not as good is that you're abandoning a point.
