Why the clocks couldn't be rigged as well. Who has ever checked if the countdown of you clock wasn't 10% faster than your opponent's ?

At least this you could check. For checking dice rigging on an electronic dice roller, you can run a chi squared test on millions of rolls. That's just to get started.
